UPDATE

BEFORE

Wow its been a long time since I have wrote many lapband experiences. First off I just want to tell you that I love my band. I am doing great, and losing the weight. I have gotten tighter and tighter. I have had to give up a lot of bread. Due to the fact that they have more of a gummy texture when they are digested.

Other than that, Everything goes down pretty good. Chicken, soup, protein shakes, etc. Sweets go down pretty dang good, but I have to stay away from those.

I was looking at pictures of myself right before I had surgery. It was bad. I think I honestly had a view of myself as not that bad. I can say looking at those pictures made me realize that I was in bad health. I am so glad that I am eating healthy again.

Hey everyone out there.. basically mom.

Well I thought I would update you on all the latest. I have been the same weight, which is fine, least I am not gaining. But also, I think my body can have more food. I cant wait to get adjusted. I still get full, and pace my self but I am looking forward to tightin the band.

The good that is really good to go down, is chicken. I love it! Oh and quizno's and einstein has the best soup.

I am feeling good about things. I have yet to cough up food.. Now lets not get too cocky, cause I am sure Its going to happen.

I am one of those people, that does have to think about eating. But I do still get hungry. Like right now.. Maybe I will go have some protein shake or somethin.

Happy blogging

Actual Food!!!

I can have food! Yes all types of food. So far everything is going down great.. maybe a little too good. I am looking forward to getting my adjustment on Sept 2nd.

All I can say is that I am saving mega bucks on food. The dollar menu is the best thing, I can get chili, and other proteins.

I have noticed since the swelling in my stomach or as I call ( my pouch), has gone down, you can eat like you were.

Let me tell you chocolate goes down pretty good. But I am not craving it as much as I thought.. Yes I miss my pop, but honestly, this tool is great.

Next goal: exercise. I plan on starting tomorrow. We just got a new dog, so I have been devoted to her most of the day. Good puppy

Chewing Confidence

Last night, Eric and I went to Applebees. To celebrate a day early for our one year anniversary. We made it!..

First let me explain the waitress. I wanted the Lime flavor chicken.. and It happened to have cheese on it. Well I said I would like that one, but she replied, "when you take the cheese out, it takes away the flavor." I can't have cheese, I am lactose intolerant (self diagnosed). So she wouldn't let me order it, and I just asked for chicken fingers.. that experience was just too weird. I did have one little chicken finger and mashed potatoes.. It was delightful!

I will tell you this.. Just because you have lap band, doesn't mean you just lose weight. You need to eat right, and STOP when full, and not go back. Lap band is a great tool for me. But its not a cop out to stop exercising and eating healthy.

Here is my motivational quote for lapbanders.. which was found on lapband talk..

"You have to meet the band halfway."

Three cheers for Lapband!

Today has been the best lap band day ever. Let me explain... I was able to eat chili (without puree), I went to Quizno's and got a small sandwich and had chicken! It went down smoothly, without crying (for Jac) lol.

The best part of the day was when I took a bath with salts. Man, life is good.

Now, there is times where I do get frustrated, but honestly, I am so healthy, and getting even more healthier. I felt like my life was spinning out of control. I'm finally getting more organized, and just cleaning more. I believe that the weight made my life disorganized, and I can finally get my life back. Which will make my mom proud (She is my only follower on this blog) haha

I can not tell you how much losing weight, and eating healthy has changed my life. I feel closer to my Heavenly Father. I feel that my body and spirit are getting a little bit of a make over. I honestly did not think having an unhealthy body would have that effect on the gospel. I think since I have been taking care of my body, I have been blessed.

I am so blessed to have a wonderful family that cares, and supports.

I do have to say the best thing to eat is Brown Cow yogurt. Nothing is better. Its a chocolate yogurt you get at the health food store. BUT wow, if you learn anything from this post, is that Yogurt is a piece of heaven.

Potatoes mmmmmm....

Okay so alot has happened since I have blogged. I am on the healing diet, which means I get to have eggs, mash potatoes, etc. I love my life right now. Mash potatoes are highly underrated!
I have my 2 week follow up, and the doctor says I look great and the surgery went fine ( he probably says that to everyone).. HONESTLY, I would do this whole thing again. I have recovered smoothly, I'm healthy, and my face is not pudgy. SO why not do it again?

I do have a long way to go. I still need to exercise, and eat healthy. Like the Dr. says, dont have 3/4 a cup of M&M's, instead have protein and make healthier decisions. Plus it wouldn't be the same, I could down a hole big size bag of M&M's..BEFORE LAPBAND... but its just not worth it.

Its been GREAT to receive advice from other people. I LOVE IT!

THANKS TO EVERYONE! You guys have been great.

Inches off!

Before Lapband I wrote down measurements of my waist, neck, and legs. Today, I decided that from a month ago to compare my measurements. WOW, not what I was expecting. I lost inches from places I didn't even think. The most was my waist, but places like my neck and hips. I am one happy person!

I have more confidence when I go into stores. Clothes actually fit. I don't want to buy them because thats a waste, but my next step is to try on a bathing suit.. once the bandages are off. haha

Once again, I am very blessed. I am grateful to have a wonderful family and support group. I can't wait for mash potatoes and eggs! ONE MORE WEEK!

A Pureed Paradise

Wow, food never tasted so good. I am on the Pureed week for the post op diet. Lets just say, that this week did not sound that great. I poured some pureed chicken noodle soup, I tasted it, and it was pure happiness. It gives me hope, I can do this!

So far I am doing good ALB (after lap band). There has been some mourning of things I did not expect. Its not that it makes me want this, I KNEW that I was an emotional eater. I ate when I was sad, happy, mad, sleepy, etc. I have thought, that I am never going to have that "full" feeling again. With LB you get more of a pressure feeling, and you feel satisfied, but it isnt that natural full feeling. That feeling lead me to go eat all I could at Cafe Rio, Its fun to reach that full feeling and more. Now I have to realize, why did I do that?

I actually am facing what made me eat. For me it wasn't just to get full. It was a painful thing. I had to be overweight for so long of my life. I finally feel I am getting pieces of my life back, and in a way starting over.

Food is not the center of my day anymore, and it is hard for me to grasp that. I don't enjoy it. Food is just to keep ya goin', and I'm learning.

I am so glad I did this, and had the opportunity to. I am very lucky!

There's Always room for Jello!

Hey everyone! I am healing quite well, and losing weight. But I think alot of people would lose weight on broth, and jello... I never thought I would say this but, I am actually looking forward to pureed food! haha
The only thing that is hard with this week, is that im itchy, so I the nurse said its probably the loratab. So I take bubblegum flavor tylenol... YUM.
Also it hurts to laugh, I turned on Glenn Beck today and had to turn it off because He makes me laugh so much.
I am walking around, in the "barbie" tights to help the blood clots. I can't wait to get them off, and I cant wait for a bath, or to go swimming. Other than that, I am seriously so happy with my decision, and once again I am very blessed! Once again I am so happy and honestly recovering fast. And honestly its not that painful. I love everyone, and I love my jello!

surgery is fun, boys and girls...

Thats right, surgery was not that bad. About twelve hours from when I had the surgery, and I can literally say I would do it all again. It went really smooth.
I was in the pre op, with no worries at all. I was kind of excited to get my gown, slippers, and the blue shower cap on. I was ready! haha
During the surgery they did find a small hernia, which was really surprising because I wasn't too overweight, and I was not a male. But It makes a lot of sense now why I was so sick sometimes, having acid reflux and the DR's not knowing why. So yay!
I am a little sore, I just almost feel like I do have heartburn, thats only way I can describe the scars. The five really are not that painful. Honestly, I don't think I have every been so blessed and watched over. I think I had a lot people helping out on the other side.
Eric, "My person of care" (thats what the surgical place did call him, and I think he likes that title) has been great.
ll I know is that I was coming out of the recovery room talking alot about "The Bachlorette"... The nurse thought it was funny but pain medication or not, I remember the conversation.. Well thanks for you're support.
And theres nothing better than jello.. hmmmm

... Im alive

Well I am alive. Actually, things have been going well on the diet. For this week I lost a total of 6 pounds. So I am honestly thrilled! Just one more week of this thing, and then Im under the knife.

With all the sugar withdrawls.. thankfully thats over, but I think this makes you prepare for the band. Because this is tough, only have 1000 calories, especially on the weekends (without cheating). I feel that I can do it.

I have found through this low cal diet that I am just a bored/nervous eating.. some would call an "emotional eater" I never knew that about myself. I go for the fridge when I am bored. I have found that If I keep myself busy, or leave the house, that Its a nice break from food.
So far so good. Thanks for all the support!

Sugar Withdrawals

Day 2 on my pre op diet. Woke up this morning, and lost 2 pounds, yay! Also woke up this morning with a little bit of a flush feeling... YUP you guessed it, I am having sugar withdrawals. Why did I have to drink so much Dr. Pepper? Its so not worth it. The weird thing is I am not having ANY headaches... hmmm. maybe there is a connection with my diet.

Also am finding new things to replace food with. So far it has been playing my Nintendo DS, naps, books, etc.

EXERCISE: I want to start exercising without wanting to pass out (like today), so I am probably will start in the next few days. I think school counts, Tommy wears me out, but I will probably start swimmin'. Aqua size anyone?

Pre op Diet Fun

woot! I start my pre op diet TODAY. (AS the Theme song for Rocky plays in the background). FYI..I can have up to 960 calories. Lets just say that I am using up every little calorie, but I am NOT going over. I honestly feel great. I called my mom and told her 2 hours into the diet, saying I feel like I lost a good 10 pounds. Now I come from a long line of over reactors, and I tend to be dramatic, but I actually do feel like I never stuck so close to a diet before. I mean business.

I have been asked what have been you're lowest points, why have you wanted to do this? Well It all started when I happened to be at my parents house, struggling with my weight. We get letters from Lese's group home, and it gives us updates on how she is doing. Well this one I happened to glance and saw lese's weight. WHAT? Analese WEIGHTS LESS THAN ME! No offense to Lese.

I have had great support. Its been awesome. I'm really excited and nervous, but I can do this. Cheers!

Where's My Band?

My name is Lindsay and I am a addicted to food... I have decided to get Lapband surgery. It is not the easy way out, it is actually going to be hard. I'm Probably going have a few panic attacks, some tears, but hopefully some good times. I guess I am writing this blog to share with you the ups and downs, why I got here, and what I can do about it.
Lets start at the beginning. I was about 10 years old and somehow could eat dunford donuts and not even be counting the points. 10 years old in the TJ MAX dressing room trying on swim suits, I looked in the mirror and my body just said, "Lets give ya the fat genes"..

I struggled with it a lot growing up, I mean who gets husky jeans from old navy in 7th grade? wasn't I awkward enough?
This is not a sad story, I have a good life, and now I am ready for a new chapter.

THE DIET: ok confession I have been drinking gallons of Dr. Pepper, almost to the point I have my mouth under the Soda fountain at 711. Its not pretty. Lets just say IM so ready to get off everything. I never thought I would be saying this, but I dont want a dunford donut again.

This Diary is going to share the good with the bad, and I'm excited. I'm not doing this so I can fit into those 7 jeans.. although it will be nice. I am just looking forward to good health in the future. LETS DO THIS!
